In light of the news that Colourpop will be coming to American Sephora stores this November, I thought I’d share a few of my favourite shades with you. Unfortunately, being in Canada, I will not be able to take advantage of the in-store Colourpop experience, but I am a big fan of Colorpop liquid lipsticks. In fact, they’re the only liquid lipsticks I keep buying because of the price and quality. Even with the US to Canadian exchange rate, it still comes up to a great deal. I absolutely love the colour selection and the finish on these lipsticks and get asked about them whenever I wear them. They are also cruelty-free and mostly vegan (you can find the exceptions on their website). Since Colourpop is an online based store, I took a chance by ordering from them a few years ago when they were not as big as they are today, and I was pleasantly surprised with what I got. So today, I am going to tell you about a few of my favourite shades.
Dopey (Satin Finish)
- My number one favourite liquid lipstick. I’ve repurchased it twice so far. The colour looks great on any skin tone and lasts so long without smearing. I usually wear this lipstick for a night out type of event, but if you’re feeling bold you can make it work during the day too. Since it’s not a matte finish, it doesn’t dry out your lips but it doesn’t shine like a lipgloss, its the perfect medium. It has a purple pinkish tone to it, a timeless shade, but I do find it’s a great shade for the fall. It does transfer a bit but the colour still stays on great.
Midi (Matte Finish)
- When I first got this lipstick, I put it on and was horrified to find out that it was not the shade I was expecting based on the pictures I saw online. But after a few minutes of letting it dry, the colour darkened out to a soft pink and it looked great. I wouldn’t recommend this shade to super light skin tones though as it can make you look a bit washed out. I wear this during the day if I’m just going out to the mall or for lunch. It has the matte which can be quite drying but it doesn’t show as much since it is a lighter shade. If I want to make it look a little darker, I use a dark pink lipliner. This shade seems like it would look dramatically different on different skin tones.
Echo Park (Satin Finish)
- Last but not least, I have this coral toned liquid lipstick that I can wear literally day and night. It’s great for summer and spring because it’s bright, but not too bright. It looks like it has an orange undertone to it, which works well with all skin tones. Once again, the finish is the same as the last two. I like the satin better than matte because matte dries into the cracks of my lips and I find it harder to remove.
The only downside of these lipsticks are their brushes. Personally, I don’t like small fluffy brushes because they hold on to more product. I like longer skinnier ones so I can control where the product goes better.
If you haven’t tried Colourpop lipsticks then you’re missing out. These lipsticks are a staple in my makeup bag and the wide array of shades and finishes are amazing! They also do international shipping a few times a year, so subscribe to their email updates so you can buy at the right time and save on shipping!
